How do they make the black powder fuel for Thai bamboo rockets?

does any one know the recipie? Andthe safest way to make them, as I saw some explode during lift off (just like the old NASA).How do they make the black powder fuel for Thai bamboo rockets?
Hi:

I agree with John V. However to answer your question about it. they use a formula recipe that calls for mixing the gun power ingredients in a very special ratio to one other. Like 4 parts carbon to 1 part soda ash to 1/2 part oxidizer to make a varying slow burning power ( i will not tell you the whole recipe for it) but by varying the amounts you will get different effects for it. than they wet the powder down with water and using wooden equipment to pack the powder in the bamboo tube and shape powder with a wooden form to shape the nozzle. then they dry it out for a week or two before fire it off. There are about 112 different way to mix it for different effects. BUT THIS SHOULD BE DONE BY A EXPERT. But if you are interested it . Then join the company that makes them and learn from them, they will teach you what you need to know to handle and make them safety. or join your army or Armed Forces of your country and sign up for demolition %26amp; mine removal detail. But either way you will get a real knowdege for it of the dangers and safe handling of them.

Hope this helpsHow do they make the black powder fuel for Thai bamboo rockets?
Well the simple answer is don't make them. Bamboo is not a very strong matterial to be making rockets out of, thick walled paper tubes would be much stonger and would help with CATOs. For looks you could put the motor in a peice of bamboo though:). The reason they CATOed was probably because the powder was not packed enough in the tube, and you probably couldn't pack it very tight in bamboo because it would either break or break in flight because of the packing. So pack the black powder hard in a paper tube with a nozzle probably and you will have a working rocket, put it in a peice of bamboo and it just blows up.
