Legally are black powder guns considered fire arms?

I have heard they are not. Does this include black powder revolvers also? Can they be carried concealed with a permit or do I need a permit to carry concealed?Legally are black powder guns considered fire arms?
They areLegally are black powder guns considered fire arms?
A very long time ago when gun control legislation was being enacted, black powder weapons were excepted from restrictions and registration requirements. When it became illegal to purchase most firearms from mail order suppliers, black powder weapons could still be purchased via mail order.

I don't kow what the changes have been since then. I THINK that the exception for black powder arms has been removed and they are now regulated like all other fire arms.

The entire gun control movement is in place as an agenda by some segments of the population to remove all firearms from the general public. That movement hasn't gottent he press it used to get but it is still very active and they try to push more restrictive legislation. They are also the ones that coined the term ';gun crime'; as a lable for every crime in which the criminal used a firearm. It's propaganda that is now in wide use by the mass media.
The most popular answer EVER -

''it depends on the state.''

In some states [NY I think] any firearm is a firearm...period.

Some states permit black powder weapons to be purchased without any paperwork - pick out what you want and send in the money.

Others make you do the FFL dance, blah, blah.
Of course they are considered firearms. Wherever you heard that they are not is completely wrong. Absolutely.

You must have a permit to carry any firearm, regardless of whether its black powder or not.

And quite frankly, you'd be an idiot to carry a concealed black powder revolver. Permit or not, its just a terrible weapon to rely on.
