Treatment of Ca(OH)2 with nitric acid will yield Ca(NO3)2 and water. Evaporate the solution to dryness = Ca(NO3)2. Use high quality water to dilute the nitric acid and for making the Ca(OH)2 solution. Ca(OH)2 reaches saturation at ~ 0.025M soo you might want to use either dry
Ca(OH)2 or even CaO if available for the reaction .
CaO + 2HNO3-------%26gt; Ca(NO3)2 + H2O
Ca(OH)2 + 2HNO3 --------%26gt; Ca(NO3)2 + 2 H2O
