Is a concealed carry permit required for a black powder cap and ball revolver in montana?

Yes. Montana law prohibits people from carrying concealed weapons inside city, town or logging camp limits and also contains some limits on carrying concealed weapons outside of city limits. However, a person may carry concealed weapons in many instances if he or she has a valid permit. You may not carry a concealed weapon in buildings owned or leased by the federal, state or local government; in financial institutions; or any place where alcoholic beverages are sold, dispensed and consumed. Montana Code list potential concealed weapon as dirk, dagger, pistol, revolver, slingshot, sword cane, billy, knuckles made of any metal or hard substance, knife having a blade 4 inches long or longer, razor, not including a safety razor, or other deadly weapon. However, it should be noted that unconcealed weapons are acceptable in many cases and that Montana has no prohibitions against carrying a weapon in a motor vehicle. Is a concealed carry permit required for a black powder cap and ball revolver in montana?
It depends on whether you carry it cncealed or not. If you carry it out in the open on your hip, and your coat doesn't obscure it from view, then no. Most western states, except California allow the open carrying of firearms, but you should check local ordnances for their laws, to be safe. Now, if you carry it concealed in any way (if, for instance, you have it in a western holster, but you wear a long coat that completely obscures it from view) then you will probably need to get a permit. Personally, I think that, while it is a fine man-stopper compared to nothing at all, if you are going to go through the trouble of getting a permit, then get a modern cartridge firearm. I have a couple cap and ball revolvers, and they are great fun to shoot, but not very efficient. Is a concealed carry permit required for a black powder cap and ball revolver in montana?
Yes! Even though they are not considered a firearm by the ffa, neither is a axe or a sword, although I'm not exactly sure what kina' liscence you'll be needing!
Why would you wanna carry a smokewagon, concealed, or otherwise, unless you're playing 'cowboys'? ! !

Unless you're a disqualified criminal, get yourself a modern weapon and a CWP, before you get yourself in trouble.

It ain't that big a deal!
I believe it is required in every state to carry a concealed firearm, reguardless of whether it is blackpowder.
