Is it legal to attach a shoulder stock to a black powder cap and ball revolver and shoot it?

Nope. You can even buy certain ones with stocks included.

(That should be ';nope, it's not illegal';. It's perfectly legal. You can even buy certain ones that have the stock included.)

I could have sworn you asked ';is it illegal....?';

Cap and ball or black powder muzzle loaders aren't considered to be firearms in terms of the legal system. You can pretty much attach whatever you want.Is it legal to attach a shoulder stock to a black powder cap and ball revolver and shoot it?
check with your local authorities first, but i believe federal ATF would get you for making an illegal short-barrelled rifle. Although in certain jurisdictions, black-powder firearms are less stringently controlled than their ';modern'; counterparts, the recent profusion of non-historical black-powder types may lead to the elimination of any legal distinctions between black-powder and smokeless weapons. So i suspect your idea would be akin to cutting down a Sharps .50-70 rifle to 12'; - not recommended!Is it legal to attach a shoulder stock to a black powder cap and ball revolver and shoot it?
Yes, Check out DixieGunWorks.com. They sell one. Federal law declares that cap and ball era revolvers and their reproductions are not firearms. That is why they can be mail ordered. If you're state has no law against it you're good to go.
I dont see why not, as long as your not hunting. You dont live in CA by any chance do you? No telling about the crazy laws there.. they might consider your cap and ball some kind of tactical weapon with a stock attached lol
